A Woody Wonder
Wood Prints are loaded with character and are completely unique. In fact, no two prints are alike! The wood’s natural warm tones and grain become part of your image, creating a beautiful effect that lends a subtle vintage feel to your photo. The results are spectacular!
Knock on Wood
Every Wood Print starts from a perfectly sanded sheet of birch wood. We then print your photo directly onto the surface of the wood with our special UV inks. The inks permeate the first layer of wood ply, making it resistant to scratching and chipping. The result is a smooth matte finish that gives off a genuine wood feel. The beautiful nine-layered hardwood edges are left natural, providing a uniquely artisan look.
Naturally, They’re Made to Last
We only use the finest American birch wood, which is a certified renewable resource grown specifically to be harvested. That means we are never harming old growth forests. Its light color and pure grain lines make you wonder if its sole purpose was always to become a Posterjack Wood Print. The hardwood boards are ½-inch thick and extremely durable. The solid feel is immediately noticed when you hold it in your hands, and you just know it’s a piece of art that’s made to last.

Free image quality check
When you upload a photo to Posterjack, the very first thing we do is take a look at your image resolution, compare it with your chosen print size, and then provide you with a quality score which can be seen immediately after uploading your photo. This free image quality check only takes seconds but ensures you’ll be happy with your Wood Print – no more second-guessing as to whether or not your photo is suitable for printing in a large format. If your quality score isn’t as high as you would like it to be, you can try switching to a smaller print size. If your quality score is unsuitable, you will not be able to proceed through the checkout process as print results will not meet our high standards and will be considered unacceptable. In this case, please choose either a smaller print size or a photo with a higher resolution. Please feel free to contact customer support for additional help.
What type of file should I upload? We process the four most common image types. All digital cameras and graphic design programs will produce at least one of these file types. The types we accept are JPEG, TIFF, BMP, & PNG. Our preferred file type is JPEG, which produces excellent print results and efficient file sizes! If your image is in a different format, please save it as one of the above formats before submitting to us.
Your digital camera produces images in a color space we support – typically sRGB. If you prefer, you can also upload images in Adobe RGB or any other popular RGB Color Profile. Please do not upload images in the CMYK color space.
How large of a file can I upload?
You can upload files up to 50 MB in size. If your image is larger than 50 MB, check to ensure it has been saved as a JPEG (TIFF files are generally a lot larger than JPEGs with no real advantage for print quality). If you need assistance, please don’t hesitate to contact us – we’re happy to help!
Your print sizes are listed under aspect ratio categories. What is an “aspect ratio”?
The “aspect ratio” of a photo, in its simplest terms, refers to the rectangle size of the image. Photos can be taken as long panoramic rectangles, shorter rectangles, squares, and anything in between. The “aspect ratio” measurement is a technical way of expressing the exact rectangle size for a photo or image. This is expressed as the relative length of the long edge of the image, compared to the short edge. Here is an infographic to help explain!
How are Wood Prints made?
A Posterjack Wood Print is produced using direct print technology. It is not a heat transfer or mounted print. Our first step is preparing the wood surface for printing, including a very fine sanding. Next, we print special UV inks directly onto the surface of the birch wood board using highly advanced inkjet printers. We then carefully cut out your printed photo using a special saw, which produces a crisp and clean edge.
How will colors turn out on my Wood Print?
Because we are printing directly onto the wood surface, as opposed to a white base such as paper, the colors of your photo are going to change. Images take on the warm tones of the wood, providing an organic-like filter to your photos. The purpose of a Wood Print is not perfect color reproduction, but rather something out of the ordinary, offering an artistic look and feel to your photo. If it’s essential that you get exact color matching for your images, we recommend that you try a different product, like our Acrylic Prints.
Is the wood grain visible?
You bet! That’s one of the excellent features of this product. Wood grain shows through in areas that are either white space or light to medium color tones. For example, a nice grain pattern would show through on a blue sky, whereas when darker inks like black are used, very minimal grain is visible.
Do black and white photos look good printed on wood?
Absolutely! Black and white photos look amazing when they’re made into Wood Prints! Similar to our Metal Prints where the brushed aluminum shows through in areas of pure white or faint colors, the white areas of a photo used in a Wood Print are represented with lots of woody tones and grain. The contrast between these spaces and the black areas gives off a real artistic flair.
Will my photo be cropped?
After your photo is printed onto the large wood sheet, our specialized machinery will cut around one eighth (1/8) of an inch from the perimeter of the photo. For this reason, we do not recommend placing any logos, watermarks, or other text at the very edge of your image
